Tulip "Exotic Emperor"
This Tulip opens creamy ivory-white and matures to milky-white with yellow flames and exterior petals with emerald-green striations. It is a strong, robust variety that stands up well to spring rains and wind.
The History: It was discovered by Willem Vink some 20 years ago in a huge field, it was flagged with his bandanna so the flower would not be cut off the next morning. Unfortunately, the bandanna and the unique sport disappeared in the field. White Emperor bulbs from that field were not sold that year. They grew the entire field on, and the following spring, they were rewarded with two Exotic Emperors.
I am so thankful that this Tulip was saved as it has quickly become one of my personal favorites! This is planted in my own landscaping as you can see in these photos.
